Dodgy water

The Head just got some results back from tests done on the school water. It turns out there is dodgy levels of some Bacteria in it. This has led to a few curtailments. Not only are we not allowed to drink it but neither are we allowed to wash our hands in it, instead using an abundance of wet wipes for this need!

All this worries me. Admittedly i've never found the school water that tasty, in fact it tastes fairly stale, but i have been drinking a couple of cups each day over the time i've been at school, just to keep me well hydrated . Maybe these results explain the 6th toe!!

Rugby didn't go to plan as we got stuffed 33 -7. It pretty much came down to the fact that we were a bit thrown together, too many of us only having played a few games together and Coleraine were the opposite - well trained and playing as a team. I was pretty miffed by it all. I was ticked at the planning, the training in the build up and the attitude of a few on the pitch - we just lacked that Ballynahinch pride that usually characterises us. That said we've kinda lacked that pride all season. As a club we've had a pretty tough year with none of our teams doing as well as they should. It just feels like everyone had settled on their laurels and lost their drive and spirit for the game. It's hard to know what needs to happen for us to get back into gear next season but something definitely needs to happen. Anyway don't know what i'm saying - just a bit fed up!

Adventures

Considered a wee trip to Rathlin Island over half term but it don't look like there's much to see at this time of year. Maybe in the summer. Now considering a wee trip on Monday to Slieve Gullion forest park in Newry where there's an 8 mile forest drive.

Cup Match

Looking forward to a big game at the weekend. We are playing Coleraine up there in the Town's Cup. This is our biggest game of the season. We're already out of contention for the league so this is our last chance for silverware. Coleraine are strong but we've had a real good build up in recent weeks beating Lisburn, Dungannon and then Banbridge (56 - 0) last week.

Cycled into school yesterday for the first time. Was absolutely baltic on the way in but pleasantly warm in the afternoon. I think i'm going to try and do that a bit more often for the sake of extra fitness and saving a wee bit of fuel. It's also funny how you notice things on your journey that you just don't see when you're driving.

I went to an Indian restaurant for the first time last night (Kybher @ Carryduff). I ordered a dish called Lamb Rogan Josh and enjoyed it. It was only 2-star on the hot scale and was kinda like a curry. I will go again but still prefer the old chinese!!

Traitor

6.00-6.45pm BBC TWO
Traitor is the new psychological game show that puts levels of trust
to the test.
Each game involves nine recruits. Seven ordinary contestants must
weed out two traitors in their midst.
In a game of intuition, interrogation and intrigue, whoever remains at
the end of the game stands to claim a share of the £5000 winnings.
The show challenges viewers and contestants alike to root out and
find the real traitors in their midst.Through conversation, argument,
questioning and accusation, the ultimate freewheeling group
inquisition takes place to find who can be trusted and who cannot.
Traitor is presented by top journalist Tony Livesey (Have I Got News
For You, What The Papers Say).

Watched this last night and enjoyed it. Pretty much just like the game mafia.

Happily singing (the wrong words) along

Funny isn't it when you've been singing along to a song for some time and then something or someone informs you that you've been singing the wrong words.

This happened with me recently when i was informed by the radio that the Lmc vs U2 song currently getting alot of airtime wasn't, 'Take me to the counsellor' as i had been singing but in fact 'Take me to the clouds above'

My ways are now corrected!

One to watch

Highly recommend the movie Veronica Guerin - i watched it on Monday evening past. It's based on the true story of a Sunday independent reporter who through her articles exposed a bunch of drug gangs in Dublin during the late 90's and ended up being murdered by them.

Without giving too much away, the movie covers everything from her first experiences of the horrific drug underworld in Dublin and how the rich gangs were exploiting so many people, from how she contiued to report despite many attempts tp scare her into silence, right through to the effect her untimely death had on the city's approach to the problem.

Well worth the watch, although you're likely to find it quite moving...i certainly did.. maybe more so cause Dublin's not that far from home.

Prayer penetrates the hearts we cannot open,
Shields those we cannot guard,
Teaches where we cannot speak,
And comforts where our hearts have no power to soothe.

Spent some time at the all week prayer room down at the church this afternoon. I suppose these words that i got in a email from a friend today summed up well some of my reflections while i was praying.
