![]() Tuesday, July 20, 2004 Lodging House There's been a right load of people through the house this summer. Last night we had 5 extra folks with us. Glad to say one of them was Weeksy. Great to have him with us for a few days. Enjoyed plenty of craic, discussions and also got into mountains at the weekend. He flys back out to France in the morning. posted by charlie | 2:30 PM | Been at the cinema several times in the past week. Shrek 2 - Ingenious as ever, although perhaps a little on the short side. The Day after tomorrow - A movie with some great concepts (ie. the west's relationship both with the natural world and the developing world) but severely flowing with Hollywood cheese. Spiderman 2 - Didn't see the first movie but quite enjoyed this one. Of course one could read where things were going from pretty early on but i like the odd predictable hero story every so often. Did also have a fair bit to say about sacrifice and choices we have to make for the good of others. Reminded me a little of our calling. posted by charlie | 2:21 PM | Tuesday, July 13, 2004 Climbed Bernagh yesterday, up through Hare's Gap. Forgot how beautiful a mountain it is to climb. Absolutely stunning views and magical rock formations. Made even better by the company of a few others and Nala(her first full mountain)!! posted by charlie | 7:14 PM | Watched Newsnight last night. Was reporting on AIDS treatment in Cambodia. Basically it showed thousands of people turning up at a Medical centre, being given a number on their hand and then made to wait until a lottery took place. Only 10 numbers were selected, everyone else just had to come back the next day, again with very little chance of being seen. And what was this for? For retro viral drugs? For care in the centre? No - it was for a short appointment with a Doctor. And we complain... posted by charlie | 7:09 PM | Things i didn't think were possible. A new hotel on it's way to Dubai. Like something from the movies. And should you ever be able to afford a night in it you might want to travel in this wagon! posted by charlie | 7:04 PM | Saturday, July 10, 2004 An event to pray for posted by charlie | 2:16 PM | About 15,000 tennis balls are used during the Wimbledon fortnight. source posted by charlie | 2:12 PM | Friday, July 09, 2004 This has been keeping me entertained over the past few days. posted by charlie | 2:59 PM | Nala Ear Update Had to take Nala to the VET the other day. A bit like me she has been scratching her ears a whole lot. The Vet did a wee inspection, and also cleaned her ears out - they were absolutely minging - i've never saw dirt like it. Anyway it turned out she had a yeast infection, possibly caught off the cat. As i think about it now it may explain a little of my ear bother!!??? posted by charlie | 2:54 PM | Tuesday, July 06, 2004 Step in the right direction Take a few more posted by charlie | 11:02 AM | HMV got a cracking sale on at the moment! Purchased a few the other day with the aid of some b'day vouchers. Damien Rice - O Daniel Bedingfield - Gotta Get thru this Jeff Buckley - Grace posted by charlie | 10:45 AM | Friday, July 02, 2004 Watched Lost in Translation the other night. A little different. It definitely touches you but in a way thats hard to describe. In my opinion it's also good for what could happen but doesn't happen in it. You'll have to watch it to see what i mean. posted by charlie | 11:44 AM | |
