Night #2: Snr Yth Formal Posted by Hello
millbrook lodge

Had a superb (and sweaty) night last night at the formal. Always good to see everyone dolled up and with their gladrags on. Grub was as good as its ever been at the Millbrook and although the dancefloor took some time to fill, when it did, people got groovin. Thanks to Jacky and jnr. Steeler for arranging it all.

Night #1: Dave and Judith's Wedding
Elkana Christian Fellowship Bellfast Castle

A fantastic wedding. As you can see the bride looked stunning. Belfast castle was a superb venue with great food and amazing views over the city at night. Enjoyed meeting a few new folks around the dinner table and the speeches were good too. Plenty of words from the heart and the odd resulting tear!! And to round the night all off, a few hours groovin. Gregory was DJ'ing and did a great job. The best song of the night was definitely 'hey jude.' Dave and Jude are now living it up in Chicago for a lock of days!

Christmas holidays 2004 (so far)

watched polar express on monday night. some cracking moments (ideas, effects) throughout but put it all together and i thought it was fairly mediocre.
spent far too much of my first week off work doing shopping. must be more organised next year and make more use of the internet.
spent christmas eve evening with my mates from school again. always good to catch up. two of them are now married and one has a lovely mini cooper. when we're all together though it just feels like we're all still 17.
what a treat getting a white christmas! first snow of the season is always a lovely surprise. even better when its on the 25th. pity its gone now.
what a treat to get a helicopter flight over the mournes from santa!! anyone who knows me knows how much i love the mournes. what a gift! will probably be able to fly over the house too!
watched hunchback of notre dame today. who is the man and who is the monster? good question. a bit of a bummer the way old quasi moto (sp.?) had to give up the chick to the pretty boy. he took it pretty well in the end.

A goat's not just for Christmas
(source: bbc)

Stuck for christmas presents? Not stuck but would like to give something worthwhile? Follow the link above for an article on some 'alternative' presents (although judging by the numbers they give of people buying such presents, they aren't just as alternative any more - not a bad thing.)

I bought a Pig last year for mum and dad from send a cow.

Been a little quiet on this thing recently. Heres a few of the things that have been happening...

- Went Karting last week at Eddie Irvine's new sports centre in Bangor. Would definitely say its one of the best karting experiences i've had. Both the facilities and karts are top notch. The racing surface had just been polished which made racing fun. We raced the endurance format. Basically this involves non stop racing over 2 hours. There was 4 of us in the team and we could change drivers as often or as little as we liked. I got over 30 minutes racing time which is pretty good for £30 - better than the Grand Prix format i think. Our team finished 4th out of 8.

- Booked flights to Belguim and France for a trip this coming easter. A few friends and I are going to visit a lot of the different war sites, museums etc. We'll probably also camp along the way. The flights into Charleroi from Dublin only cost £28 which is handy. If anyone has been out that way I'd appreciate any recommendtions of stuff to see.

- Groin seems to have healed up well. Now played 5 weeks on the trot. Fitness is slowly coming back. Results have been patchy, only winning 2 of the last 4 but nice to be out running around again.

- Went Carol singing around Ballynahinch on Sunday night after church. Initially it felt like we may be annoying people, none of us being great singers and it being around 9:00 on a Sunday night. However in one of the estates around 20 people, from children in their pj's to grannies in their nighties, came out of their houses and sang along with us out on the street. It felt pretty good all singing together - we were enjoying it, they seemed to appreciate it. I suppose it felt a little like that there was a lot of 'goodwill' about and lets face it the streets of B'Hinch aren't always known for that at the weekends!!

- One of our kids got stung by a wasp yesterday - not the most common experience in mid December. It flew down into his glove while we were bricklaying and stung him twice.
