Dogged Determination

A dog is recovering after managing to cling to the grille of a car for almost 60 miles.
The dog travelled all the way from Coleraine to Belfast, wedged in the front of a Peugeot 306....more.

Update: I heard on the news this evening that after being returned to his owner, this dog affectionately known as 'father jack', was killed after being run over by another car! Obviously didn't learn too many lessons from his daytrip!

more music

very much unintentionally it seems a bit of musical thread is linking my posts.....and so another one. just came across gimik's website. i spent many teenage evenings cheering on the boys back in the days of 'flipmode' and latterly 'bluefish.' good to see them getting a bit of run at the minute. they also have a myspace where you can hear some of their tunes.

Another musically gifted mate, Dave McNair and some of his music. He's playing next week in Belfast as part of Belfest. I might try and head down on Tuesday.

Day off in the park

Yesterday instead of lectures at college we spent a day up at the Belfast Activity Centre. The powers that be at Jordanstown decided that class sizes were getting too big for people to mix well and get to know each other so they subsidised a day out for us in order to address that problem.

We had a great day's craic. The centre is based in the beautiful surrounds of Barnett's Demense in South Belfast and across the day we took part in several ice-breaking, team building, problem solving, iniative requiring games. We also did a spot of orienteering.

The ups of the day were numerous....
1/ I got to know quite a few folks that I didn't know before the day.
2/ I picked up a few new exercises/games for use in other settings
3/ A day in the outdoors..always a fan.
4/ No Statistics class (i;m finding the old Standard Deviation etc a little draining!)
5/ I learned why geese 'honk' at each other when flying. Apparently they are encouraging the lead goose to keep at it. We were encouraged to honk each other throughout the games!

A hard day at the office for the Hinch 5th's......

The start to this fixture was the mother of all cock-ups, a shambolic shambles
to end all shambolic shambles. This was more like a Carry-On film than a game of
rugby. How the game ever actually got played remains a mystery...more

a little ear candy. here.

it's a 1minute 34second mp3 sample from a good mate of mine Landon Pigg. if things go to plan for him you might get to hear more of his stuff in the future. he's signed with a major label in the states and should be getting stuff onto the market in the not too distant future.
