1 new local discovery

In the middle of a field, deep in the dromara hills lies a group of underground passages known as Binder's cove. Up until this weekend I'd never heard of them, so you can imagine i got pretty excited when i found out about them. I quickly grabbed my camera and jumped in the car and headed over in that direction with mum. Unfortunately when we got there they were closed off due to the poor weather but should be open sometime in March. I'm just happy i found out about them. Pure class!

I have a serious case of itchy feet these days. Not in the athletes feet sense but in the figurative sense. I'm really pining for some exploring. You know that fed up with routine feeling. I'm in the mood for a road trip or for hopping on a cheap flight somewhere. I spent at least 20 minutes of one day last week staring at the world map considering possibilities. Unfortunately budget and some other time commitments are not conducive to such longings at the present moment! I'll have to wait.

Although i do remember someone saying that 'the journey of discovery is not in seeking new landscapes but in seeing with new eyes'

Maybe some new eyes would help!?

More blog toys.

I'm not going to use this one just yet but some may be interested in creating an online photo slideshow with captions? (click on the coloured bits!)

Marshall gets Ulster Contract

Congratulations to my mate Paul Marshall who just picked up a two year full contract with Ulster. Looking forward to seeing him in action in the white shirt again after an exciting debut against Rotherham last year.

Video Hosting

I've been trying for a while to find somewhere where I can upload video's to show on the blog and stumbled upon You Tube the other day. Unlike the music videos that pestered y'all by playing of their own accord, you tube links give you the option to hit play at your own choosing!

Below is some classic comedy in the form of the late Irish comedian, Dave Allen. Of course you can choose to upload some home video if it so pleases you!

The rise and fall (and rise) of Johnny Cash!

Went to see 'Walk the line' on Saturday evening. For the parts of Cash's life that it attempted to cover it was first class; It portrayed brilliantly the many highs and lows that made up his life, the early tragedy of his brother's death, and all the scars that came with it, the frustrations of working in dead end jobs while trying to make a break in the music industry, the elation when he got his first record deal, the demanding tours that followed, the spiral into drugs and the breakdown of his first marriage, the redeeming friendship and love of june carter, the conviction and grace that followed his recovery as he drew along side and attempted to encourage those who had suffered or made mistakes like he had. The movie really did a good job of capturing all these happenings.

Having read his autobiography and watched several other documentaries about his life my only disppointment was that much of his life from marrying june carter onwards, some 30 years, was left to be summed up in a few paragraphs of text at the end of the movie. But i guess thats the way it had to be - a movie of his whole life would have taken the show into the early hours of the morning....not that i would have minded!!!!

Back at Uni

Started back to Uni on Monday. Glad to be back. I found i was getting a bit lazy and indisciplined without some structure in life. It means rising times are looking slightly more respectable and I'm actually sleeping ok at night because I've had an active day.

Liking the way studying is going to shape up this term. Alot of the material we're covering will be directly applicable to life.....both for rugby playing and coaching and also for teaching when I eventually get there. Also going to pick up a few extra coaching qulaifications in Basketball and Gymnastics. The timetable is compact which helps too - it means plenty of coaching work in the afternoons allowing me to sustain the finances a little.

New stuff from the Pigg

I mentioned a few months ago that my mate Landon was about to release an album with record label RCA in the coming year. You can now listen to some of his new stuff at his website. You can also sign up to his news-letter to trace how things are developing for him.
