An alternative (and possibly more accurate!?) take on the famous footprints poem. Here.

Modest Skinnydipping machines!

'Bathing machines, used to convey swimmers to the water in privacy, became common and are pictured here in Victorian times. '

Seems like a whole lot of effort just for a dip i reckon...and half the joy of the skinnydip is the freedom factor.....these actually look quite restraining!

The Beekeeper Summit have just been added to my myspace music list. They're local and I've a couple of friends in the band, Rick and Owen. I've found them easy on the ears and look forward to catching them live in Belfast sometime! Currently free downloads on their site!

She said si!

We got some great and unexpected news from Italy last night that Johnny and Rebecca got engaged! Not sure the exact details of how it all unfolded but i do know that he took her to some cliff top to enjoy a sunset before getting down on one knee!! And yes many jokes have been and will be made regarding the reason he chose a cliff top!!!!

Very, very happy for them both!!! Also very happy that Rebecca will be coming into the Knox family.....she's a cracking girl who we all think the world of!!!

Ballynahinch Rugby Club are now officially taking a team to Kenya next July for two weeks to work with Habitat for Humanity. Very excited about this prospect which has been in the pipeline for the last wee while.

Now in the hunt for a team!

By this time next year i think my car could be dead. The mileage clock now reads 86 498. This time last year it read 56000 or so.....thats over 30 000 miles in a year. Being a 1.0 litre petrol polo 120 000 miles would be quite a feat. However I'm not sure i can afford a new car this year with student finances etc. Slightly concerned!

yes.

sure august is near half gone and i've not posted in quite some time.

life has been fairly busy of late but nothing terribly out of the ordinary.

rugby - playing again. missed first week or two of training after i pinged a hamstring building a sandcastle at the beach (it was a big one!) but things seem to be back on the go again (despite the fact that i have 3 ice packs on me as i write this - only one on my hamstrings!).

island trip - headed for a stag doo to Inishfree at the weekend - it's an island just off the coast of Donegal. Lots of fun had and lots of ticks embedded on my body. I also walked on hot coals for the first time........after watching about 4 others go first!

camps - into week 6 now. last week brought a few problems including one kid who broke his forearm in two places. it wasn't pleasant to look at - very sreiously bowed at a place were it shouldn't have been.

golf - played Down Royal at the maze last week which isn't as fancy a course as it sounds (only £5 for 9 holes) despite losing lots of balls it was nice to get out for the dander. playing temple tomorrow - another high class establishment.

wrath - had to take a meeting in church last week that was part of a series on God's character - i got the short straw having to look at God's wrath. It was a challenge and not a particuarly easy thing to think about but nonetheless i think it was good for me to ponder and reflect on. As i said last week i find God's wrath both comforting and terrifying at the same time. Comforting because a God who is willing to angry is the type of God who can look after and protect his own when required eg. his rod and staff in psalm 23 are hardly for decoration. On the other side of the coin his wrath is terrifying ie. if you happen not to be on his side! And potentially that could be any of us..... the response i suggested was one of fear and obedience towards God and to steer clear of presumption and complacency.
