![]() Friday, September 22, 2006 Belfast Festival approaching Just picked up the festival brochure today.....a few things caught my attention music with the help of myspace music i've narrowed my interest down to a few events. Halloween Bands Showcase - tue 31st oct. a few of the best local acts. good value at £5. Declan O'Rourke and Owen Pallett - mon 30th oct - The latter one of these pair being very distinctive (check out his myspace - to your right!). Tunng - fri 2nd nov. an interesting mix of folk and electronic music. very easy to listen to. All these events are taking place in the Speigeltent which seems to be somewhat of an attraction in itself! theatre all wear bowlers - something a wee bit different and funny. Holding hands at Paschendale - the story intrigues me. comedy ross noble - seen on the box a few times. love his ability to improvise. kinda expensive though. Tuesday, September 12, 2006 september thus far. well the month is rattling by at an incredible rate. it's been a busy one for me. perhaps too busy if I'm going by what my body appears to be saying! yesterday i felt a sty beginning to form in my eye and then later on a cold sore got underway on my lip too....apparently both are signs of being run down (or so i'm told)....but to be honest i'm feeling good so maybe just some more vitamin c will do the trick!! Whatever the case its been a fulfilling month so far! Here's a quick run down of happenings American friends - We had a group of lads from community fellowship church, arkansas with us for a week or so at the start of the month.....they were over doing some construction work for project evangelism but spent quite a bit of time round here when they weren't working. We had a fair bit of craic together including quite a few games of Settlers of Catan (a game that is nearly reaching cult status round here!), a few trips around co. down (the one all around strangford lough being particuarly good) plus a few meals and a few guinness here and there. First kenya meeting - we had our information evening for the rugby club Kenya Trip last week. Over 20 turned up and a few others expressed interest but were unable to make it........great to get the ball rolling on this one. We'll have our team finalised in less than a month....exciting and daunting...lots of fundraising ahead! ![]() Back to school - I'm currently doing 3 weeks emergency cover in the high school as a classroom assistant. It's been great to be back. The financial benefits aside....its been great to catch up with old friends on the staff team, the kids are fun to work with and never fail to give you fresh perspectives things and I also got a trip to ardnabannon last week. It was nice getting paid to boulder but also great to see kids overcoming some of their fears for the first time when it came to jumping in the water etc. I've got another week or so left at school before uni starts again. An alternative christmas - booked flights at the weekend to go and see Paul and Fiona over christmas. i'm going for about 10 days from december 17th. Really excited on quite a few levels.....seeing paul and fiona, getting out of tinsel town, a chance to help them with some of their work out there, getting to see another culture...........amongst others! Rugger - of course it continues. only coaching at the minute, a broken rib (not my hamstrings) preventing me from playing at the minute. posted by charlie | 3:27 PM | |
