![]() Thursday, November 23, 2006 What’s your carbon shoe size?? If you're anything like me your lifestyle is quite likely leaving a fairly substantial 'carbon footprint' on the earth and not helping a great deal with the problem of climate change. My biggest weaknesses are the amount i drive and the amount i fly. It's possible for you to work out your carbon footprint here. The same site gives some advice on ways to both reduce your carbon footprint and also to offset it. One way they suggest to offset it is through planting trees. Apparently i should plant 10 trees to offset my footprint! Sounds like a fun afternoon's activity!! I also reckon it would be cool to watch them grow! According to a report on the bbc this is 'national tree week' so maybe sometime this week would be apt! posted by charlie | 4:45 PM | Thursday, November 16, 2006 away with the fairies tonight i played rugby and got concussed. i'm only coming around again now - about 2 and 1/2 hours later. it was a very weird feeling. my memory disappeared entirely for about 20 minutes. my first memory after being hit on the head is of talking to some of the boys in the changing room after the game. they informed that i had been talking serious gibberish for quite some time on the field but that i had played away as normal and even put one of them in for a score. i have absolutely no memory of this period. in the changing rooms i have recollections of boys laughing at me and kinda feeling like what I imagine drunkeness to feel like. i remember little bits and pieces from here although its all a bit cloudy. i remember looking at my clothes and not remembering wearing them before that day, i had to be reminded about a kenya meeting that I was supposed to lead after the game and that i'd also planned for a fair bit of the day, i even had to be ushered out of the showers after i'd apparently spent too long in there. i don't even remember walking to the showers. thankfully i had the sense to hand my keys to someone else and was driven down the road...again i only have partial memory of this drive .... the man that drove me down the road told my parents that i didn't shut up the whole time (nothing strange there perhaps!?). anyway since coming home things have slowly come back to me.... the first while i spent piecing together information by looking at my diary and also by talking to my new girlfriend on the phone (<----well slipped in eh!). About an hour ago i was able to remember most things in my head but they were only facts with very little emotional connection...nothing felt real. that was a scary phase as i pondered how long i would stay like that. however an hour has made a big difference i now feel reasonably with it again both mentally and emotionally. not nice. i now need to find out what i talked about when i was talking gibberish. unfortunately i'll also miss 2 weeks rugby now......standard after a knock like this.....minor i suppose given that i have my memory and emotions back! posted by charlie | 11:39 PM | Monday, November 06, 2006 The last couple of months have unearthed what i believe to be two of the best local blogs so far......make sure you check them out. Local man Charles Roberts killed himself after his shooting spree. The Amish have said they forgive him and have helped set up a fund for the Roberts family at a local bank.
