Uni Tunes

Caught some novel noises from norn irish duo oppenheimer at uni yesterday. They were entertaining but i'm still trying to figure out what type of mood i'd have to be in to enjoy their stuff on in the background!

Make Space

I've posted this quote from Henri Nouwen before but since i like it so much i decided to post it again.

'In the spiritual life, the word discipline means "the effort to create some space in which God can act." Discipline means to prevent everything in your life from being filled up. Discipline means that somewhere you're not occupied, and certainly not preoccupied. In the spiritual life, discipline means to create that space in which something can happen that you hadn't planned or counted on.'

Happy days for 14's!

Every monday night, thursday night and saturday morning i head to the rugby club to coach my under 14 side. Often when you go to Ballymacarn park the weather is fairly hostile and it can be hard to drag yourself out of the house but days like we've had recently make it all worthwhile.

Last week my boys headed to Banbridge for their penultimate league game and with a well earned win they got enough points top secure the premier league title. It was a very proud and happy moment to see the boys being rewarded for all their hardwork throughout the season!

We've still more to go though...next week we play off against Enniskillen who won their regional league for the overall league title! Beyond that there's a cup run. However it's nice to be where we currently are with a title under the belt!

The picture here is some of my team being presented with their new shirts by Davy Cooper from BDS Gardening and Landscaping Services who kindly sponsored the shirts!

Rejoining the NT

Having been a member of the National Trust a number of years ago i got a letter from them yesterday, asking me to consider rejoining. It didn't take much thought before I decided to go ahead. Here's some of the reasons....

> They protect some pretty special places that i love to spend time around like Murlough, The Mournes, The Dundrum Railway, Strangford Lough etc. I think it's important to play my part in helping protect these places....in fact i probably owe it!

> It was cheap...only £13.85 for a someone in the 18-25 year old bracket who pays by direct debit

> They were offering a free picnic rug for joining

> Having membership means I'm more likely to visit beautiful places like Rowallane, Mount Stewart, Patterson's Spade Mill and Crom!
